Therapuetic Approach
Vanessa holds a Masters of Counselling from Monash University, Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (with a minor in Neuroscience) from Murdoch University, Perth. She is trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy Levels 1 and 2, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Level 1, Schema Therapy Level 1, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Vanessa draws from the therapeutic models best suited to the challenges faced by her clients. Working collaboratively, her approach is non-judgemental, supportive and focused on empowering her clients make meaningful and lasting changes to their lives.
Vanessa supports clients dealing with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, low self-esteem, stress, relationship and interpersonal issues, bereavement, pregnancy loss, trauma, and those wanting to improve their work/life balance. Her passion is working with couples to help them deepen their emotional connection and enrich the quality of their relationships by learning better ways to communicate and express their needs. Vanessa is experienced in working with clients from different cultural and religious backgrounds through her volunteer roles in the local community.
Background
Originally from the UK, Vanessa moved with her family to Singapore in 2014. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog at the nature park, playing mahjong, seeing what films are showing at The Projector, and hosting friends and family at home.
