Therapeutic Approach
Shenel is a UK-trained counsellor who supports people experiencing challenges in their relationships, family life and at work. She helps her clients reduce overwhelm, communicate their needs and boundaries, and make meaningful changes in their lives.
She works with people navigating relationship conflict, separation and divorce, alongside a range of other issues including anxiety, perfectionism, low self-esteem, overwhelm and burnout. She has a particular interest in supporting people who feel stuck in unhelpful patterns or who find themselves putting others’ needs before their own.
Her approach is collaborative and practical, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centred therapy, parts work, and coaching techniques.
Background
Shenel previously worked for Mind, the UK’s largest mental health charity, and Pegasus Men’s Wellbeing Centre. She also has over 15 years’ corporate experience advising scaleups through to multinational organisations on communications strategy, giving her an understanding of the pressures of demanding careers and high-performance workplaces.
Over the past decade, Shenel has lived in China, Hong Kong and Spain. These experiences, alongside growing up in a British Cypriot family in the UK, have given her an appreciation of how cultural values and family expectations impact people’s lives – something she brings into her work with clients.
Outside of work, Shenel enjoys exploring Singapore’s green spaces, watching films and comedy shows, and trying new foods. She is a proud parent to a lively five-year-old, bringing first-hand experience of both the joys and emotional and practical demands of parenting.
