Therapuetic Approach
With nearly a decade of experience in public and private mental health settings across Singapore and Australia, Dr Cherie Chan has worked extensively with adolescents and adults presenting with a range of psychological issues, including depression, anxiety, personality disorders and trauma. In her previous role as a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), she supported individuals with comorbid mental health and chronic health conditions and has given multiple workshops and talks on the management of mental health issues to healthcare professionals and the public.
Cherie is well versed in a variety of therapy approaches, with a focus on combining elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy and trauma focused work. She is most passionate about working with individuals who experience difficulties with emotion regulation, relationship issues and trauma stemming from childhood. She strives to help clients understand their history and patterns of behaviour – and build paths towards value-driven lives.
Background
Cherie calls Singapore home and has spent time in Perth doing her post-graduate studies. Outside of clinical work, she has been active in contributing to the psychology scene both in Singapore and with international psychology associations. Cherie enjoys supervising and teaching and currently holds an Associate Lecturer position at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). On her off days, one can find her searching for the best coffee and food options around town.
