Importance is put on the therapeutic alliance, creating a safe and non-judgmental environment in sessions. Clients of all cultures, values, beliefs and sexual orientations are welcome and equally cared for.
The main therapy modalities used are Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Narrative Therapy, Applied Positive Psychology, and SFBT. Counselling is offered for a wide range of issues, including: anxiety, phobias, depression, anger management, interpersonal issues, and trauma. In addition Bjørg offers counselling for transition, grief and loss, with special interest in helping people affected by chronic health issues and other life changing experiences.
Bjørg is an accredited provider of Cool Kids Anxiety Program, Macquarie University, and is offering the Cool Kids Chilled Anxiety Program for children 13 years and above and their parents as individual and group sessions.
Background
Originally from Denmark Bjørg (Biörk) has worked and lived in four different countries for more than two decades, and her children are raised as third culture kids. This has given her an insight in and understanding of other cultures, and how we culturally perceive and think differently.
Before pursuing the mental health industry Bjørg was educated and worked in the medical industry in addition to working in the corporate and public sector.
