Therapeutic Approach
Using a person-centered approach, Anita tailors therapy to the individual using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness techniques. Anita provides a safe, non-judgemental, compassionate space in order to help clients explore issues, gain awareness and recognize unhelpful patterns. By helping clients to develop skills and strategies they are more effectively able to address difficulties and make positive changes in their lives. Drawing from her experience in school counselling as well as her work with adults, Anita can work with a broad range of personal, professional, and relationship issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, stress, low self esteem/confidence, anger management, emotion regulation, grief/loss, and relationship issues. She has particular interest in supporting parents with challenges as well as those on their journey to parenthood, from trying to conceive, fertility treatment, pregnancy and loss.
Qualifications and Training
Anita holds a Masters in Counselling from Monash University, Australia and has additional training in; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Adults and Adolescent), Gottman Method Relationship Therapy Level 1 and Schema Therapy Level 1.
Background
Born in the UK, Anita was brought up as a third culture kid living in Indonesia, Thailand, the USA, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. She has lived in Singapore for the last 14 years and also spent many of her school years here in Singapore at UWCSEA. This experience, coupled with raising her three TCK teenage daughters in Singapore, gives her an in-depth, first hand understanding of life as an expatriate child and parent with all its unique challenges and rewards.
